WILL.I.AM SENDING 4 KIDS TO COLLEGE Wed March 10, 2010 Source www.hollywoodscoop.com Black Eyed Peas singer Will.i.am is doing his part to promote the importance of education to his young fans. As successful as he is, will.iam never got the opportunity to attend college. He grew up poor in Los Angeles himself, but now wants to make a difference for his fans who are in similar situations as he was. After DJing a party at an event, will.i.am decided to create the i.am.scholarship fund, which is helping a few lucky college hopefuls! He tells People, "I did the math and I could send three kids to school. It's one thing to make it – and you've got your own apartment, or house, or car – and you keep it for you. That's not making it. Making it is spreading it." Will.i.am hopes that through his fund he can help young people achieve their dreams of making a difference in this world. "You watch the news and you've got Obama talking about our health reform, you got Al Qaeda, you have the economy, and nobody's talking about education," he says. "And that is the scariest, because we could have a nation full of dummies." The kids are asked to keep a GPA of at least 2.8, and will.i.am has promised to reward their good grades with travel all around the world! What an awesome program! |
